Exterior Preservation & Renewal
Underwater Hull Renewal and Complete Exterior Repaint
As part of the refit, the underwater hull was taken back to bare metal before receiving an entirely new protective coating and antifouling. This comprehensive process renewed corrosion protection, improved long-term performance and maintains optimum hydrodynamic efficiency.
AWATEA also underwent a complete exterior repaint, with the hull refinished in Metallic Poseidon Blue Alexseal with two clear coats and the superstructure in white. This premium coating system was selected for its exceptional durability, color stability and enduring gloss.
Teak Deck and Exterior Woodwork Restoration
The sun deck, bridge deck forward and foredeck were all re-seamed, with all teak decks carefully sanded to restore their original appearance.
All exterior teak tables, cap rails, doors, trim and loose furniture were stripped, rebuilt where necessary and completely re-varnished, restoring the warmth and depth of the original timber while providing renewed protection against the marine environment. All exterior covers were renewed.

Comfort, Stability & Habitability
Zero-Speed Stabilizer Service
The Naiad zero-speed stabilizers underwent their comprehensive 8,000-hour service, including inspection, overhaul and recommissioning, ensuring optimum performance both underway and at anchor.
HVAC Modernization
One of the most respected HVAC contractors in Europe (REM and Co) carried out a major upgrade of the climate-control system, replacing chillers, compressors, fan coil units and associated equipment. The new installation improves cooling efficiency, reduces operating noise and delivers more consistent climate control throughout the yacht in line with 2026 standards.
Lighting & Control Systems
The entire guest accommodation and exterior lighting were upgraded to energy-efficient LED fixtures, complemented by a renewed Lutron lighting control system. The result is improved reliability, lower power consumption and enhanced lighting flexibility throughout the yacht.
Crew Accommodation Refurbishment
Crew areas were refreshed with new upholstered headliners throughout, while all crew shower floors were replaced, enhancing durability and improving day-to-day comfort.
Engineering Renewal & Lifecycle Maintenance
Classification & Preventative Maintenance
The refit included a program of preventative maintenance, system inspections and all required class surveys, ensuring the yacht remains maintained to the highest technical standards.
Main Engines & Generators
Major scheduled maintenance was carried out on both main engines and the yacht's generators in accordance with manufacturer service intervals, ensuring continued reliability and efficient long-range operation.
Hydraulic Systems Overhaul
All major hydraulic equipment manufactured by Cramm—including the passerelle, shell doors, side boarding ladders, cranes and stern platform systems—was completely overhauled to restore full operational performance.
Power Management System Upgrade
The electrical power management system was modernized with the latest A. de Keizer (AdK) hardware and software, enhancing load sharing, generator management and the overall efficiency and redundancy of the yacht's electrical network.

Monitoring & Alarm System Upgrade
The yacht's AdK monitoring and alarm system was comprehensively upgraded, improving vessel-wide monitoring, fault detection and operational diagnostics while ensuring greater system reliability and ease of maintenance.
Watermaker Overhaul
Both freshwater generation systems were fully rebuilt, ensuring dependable production of potable water while extending service life and improving operational efficiency.
Refrigeration System Upgrade
The yacht's refrigeration system received new evaporators for both refrigerators and freezers, improving cooling performance, reliability and energy efficiency.
Sewage Treatment Plant Rebuild
The onboard sewage treatment plant underwent a complete rebuild to restore optimum performance, reliability and compliance with current environmental standards.
Galley Rebuild
The main deck galley was upgraded with new storage cupboards in white and a new double oven and cooktop.

2023 – 15-Year Lloyd's Class Renewal
Rybovich Safe Harbor
In 2023, AWATEA successfully completed her 15-year Lloyd's Class surveys at Rybovich Safe Harbor in West Palm Beach, accompanied by an extensive program of inspections, servicing and renewal across the yacht's critical systems. The works included major maintenance to the main engines, generators, bow thruster, steering gear, windlasses, pumps, valves and associated pipework, together with servicing of the Cathelco anti-fouling system, firefighting equipment, freshwater systems and tank cleaning and recoating.
The program also included upgrades to onboard systems and equipment, including navigation and communications, Starlink connectivity, fire dampers, galley and laundry ventilation, lighting, deck machinery, the foredeck crane, and compliance improvements to the black water system. Exterior works included refinishing the stern, renewing teak to the swim platform and steps, while selected crew and guest areas were refreshed with new flooring, upholstery, carpets and soft furnishings.
